01

The challenge

The client needed a single platform where customers could hold a paid membership, book sessions or buy physical offerings, and work through online courses — without running separate systems for commerce, content, and payments. On top of that, customers paid from multiple regions, the catalog and course content were growing fast, and the client's own team needed to manage all of it without depending on a developer for everyday changes.

02

Our solution

We built the platform on WordPress and WooCommerce, with tiered membership and subscription rules controlling access across both the storefront and the course content, and an LMS layer integrated directly into checkout so course access activates automatically on purchase. We wired in four payment gateways — Stripe, PayPal, Authorize.net, and Razorpay — so international and domestic customers each get a gateway that actually works for them, then layered in caching, image optimization, and technical SEO (schema markup, clean URLs, sitemaps) so the site stays fast and discoverable as content keeps growing.

03

The impact

The platform now runs memberships, course sales, and standard ecommerce through one admin the client's own team manages directly, with page speed and organic visibility both improved as part of the same engagement — and a payment setup ready to support new regions without re-architecting anything.

Platform Audit & Membership Architecture

Comprehensive planning and analysis phase that laid the foundation for project success.

1

Requirements & Platform Audit

1–2 weeks

  • Mapped membership tiers against course access and existing product catalog
  • Audited current site performance and SEO baseline before any changes
  • Reviewed payment gateway requirements across target customer regions
  • Catalogued existing WooCommerce data for migration into the new structure
2

Information Architecture & Catalog Design

2 weeks

  • Designed taxonomy spanning physical products, sessions, and courses
  • Mapped the checkout flow for mixed cart types (one-time + recurring)
  • Planned member-only content gating rules by tier
  • Drafted the admin workflow for non-technical catalog and course management

Membership, Commerce & Performance Build-Out

Systematic implementation approach using Phased rollout with staging sign-off at each milestone to ensure quality delivery.

1

Membership & Subscription Engine

3 weeks

Tiered membership plans with recurring billing via WooCommerce Subscriptions
Access-control layer gating both content and commerce by membership tier
Member account dashboard for managing plans and viewing purchase history
2

LMS & Course Storefront Integration

3 weeks

Course catalog wired directly into the WooCommerce checkout flow
Automatic course access on purchase, tied to membership tier where applicable
Progress tracking and completion status for enrolled courses
3

Multi-Gateway Payment Integration

2 weeks

Stripe, PayPal, Authorize.net, and Razorpay integrated behind one checkout
Region-aware gateway routing for domestic and international customers
Failure/fallback handling so a declined gateway doesn't lose the sale
4

Performance, SEO & Launch

2–3 weeks

Caching, CDN, and image optimization tuned for content-heavy pages
Schema markup, clean URLs, and XML sitemap for the full catalog and course library
Admin training and documentation for day-to-day catalog and course management

Platform Performance & Business Results

Comprehensive analysis of the project's impact across multiple business dimensions.

Performance & Technical Health

  • Lighthouse performance scores consistently in the 90+ range post-optimization
  • Catalog and course pages load in under two seconds on average
  • Technical SEO improvements (schema, sitemaps, clean URLs) lifted organic visibility
  • Stable uptime with proactive plugin, theme, and security update management

Revenue & Member Experience

  • Recurring revenue introduced through tiered membership and subscription plans
  • Courses, sessions, and physical products all managed through one unified storefront
  • Checkout completion improved after adding region-appropriate payment gateways
  • Non-technical staff manage catalog, course content, and membership tiers independently

Key engineering highlights

01

Membership tiers gate both content and commerce

A single access-control layer governs course visibility, session booking, and member pricing — no duplicated logic between the shop and the learning content.

02

Region-aware payment routing

Stripe, PayPal, Authorize.net, and Razorpay sit behind one checkout, routed by customer region so international and domestic buyers each see a gateway that works for them.

03

Performance tuned for content-heavy pages

Caching, image optimization, and query tuning keep catalog and course pages fast even as content volume grows.

04

SEO built into the catalog structure

Schema markup, clean URLs, and metadata are generated as part of the product and course structure itself, not bolted on afterward.

05

Admin-manageable without a developer

Catalog, course content, and membership tiers are all managed through the WordPress admin by non-technical staff.

Our members can book sessions, buy from the store, and work through courses all in one place now — and our own team updates the catalog and course content without waiting on a developer.
